Referendum on Ukraine’s territorial integrity is not best option - Zelenskyy
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy does not consider a referendum on the territorial integrity of Ukraine to be the best option.
He said this in an interview with French media, Censor.NET reports.
The Head of State emphasized that any issue regarding the territorial integrity of Ukraine cannot be resolved by the President alone - it requires the will of the Ukrainian people.
At the same time, Zelenskyy does not consider a referendum to be a good option, as "we are dealing with Putin."
"A referendum? This is what the Ukrainian people should want. Frankly speaking, this is not the best option, because we are dealing with Putin and it would be a victory for him if he captures part of our territories," the Ukrainian leader said.
However, the president notes that liberating all the territories by force and weapons "costs us a lot of time and human lives." According to Zelenskyy, "we can return our territories through diplomatic means."
"This does not mean that at this very moment we will return our 1991 borders, but I believe that a just peace for Ukraine is to restore our territorial integrity, but this does not mean that we have to do it only with weapons," the head of state said.
