Since beginning of day, 179 combat engagements took place in frontline, enemy’s biggest activity is in Pokrovsk direction - General Staff
Since the beginning of the day on Tuesday, December 24, as of 4 p.m., the number of combat engagements at the front has increased to 179.
This is stated in the report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Censor.NET reports.
Enemy shelling
Today, hostile artillery and mortar fire affected communities in the Chernihiv, Sumy and Kharkiv regions, including Hirsk, Khrinivka, Pokrovka, Porozok, Maiske, Slavhorod, Vidrodzhenivske, Tymofiivka, Oleksandrivka and Ponomarenky.
The situation in the Kharkiv region
In the Kharkiv direction, the enemy attacked the positions of our units four times in the areas of Vovchansk and Vysoka Yaruha.
In the Kupiansk direction, Russian invaders attacked the Defense Forces 19 times in the areas of Petropavlivka, Kolisnykivka, Zahryzove and Lozova. Eight combat engagements are ongoing.
The situation in the East
In the Lyman direction, the invading army launched 18 attacks on Ukrainian positions near Druzhelyubivka, Zelenyi Hai, Novoiehorivka, Makiivka, Terny, Torske and in the direction of Hryhorivka, seven of the attacks are still ongoing. Ukrainian soldiers are steadfastly holding the line and inflicting losses on the enemy.
In the area of Bilohorivka in the Siversk direction, the enemy tried to break through to our positions once.
In the Kramatorsk direction, since the beginning of the day, the Defense Forces have repelled five attacks by Russian invaders in the area of Chasiv Yar.
In the Toretsk direction, the aggressor made eleven attempts to advance on the positions of Ukrainian troops near Toretsk, Druzhba and Dachne, and the battle is currently underway.
In the Pokrovsk direction, the Russian invaders made 45 attempts to push our defenders from their positions in the areas of Vozdvyzhenka, Myrolyubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Novyi Trud, Dachenske, Shevchenko, Vovkove and Novovasylivka. Defense forces are holding back the onslaught and repelled 32 enemy attacks, 13 firefights are still ongoing.
In the Kurakhove direction, the enemy army attacked 25 times in the direction of Petropavlivka, Shevchenko and in the area of Kurakhove. Fifteen invaders' attempts to advance have already been repelled.
Nine enemy attacks continue in the Vremivka direction, and our troops have already repelled 11 enemy assaults in the areas of Uspenivka, Yantarne, Kostiantynopolske, Kostiantynopol, Rozlyv, Rozdolne, Novyi Komar, Novosilka, Velyka Novosilka and Storozheve. Enemy aircraft dropped guided aerial bombs on Temyrivka and Zelene Pole.
The situation in the South
The enemy made one unsuccessful attempt to storm the positions of Ukrainian units in the Pridniprovske direction.
Kursk direction
In the Kursk region, Ukrainian troops repelled twenty attacks by the invading forces, ten combat engagements are ongoing.
In other areas, there are no major changes.
The General Staff added that the Ukrainian Defense Forces are holding back the Russian invaders' offensive and are taking all necessary measures to prevent the enemy from advancing deeper into Ukrainian territory.
