Air defense shot down both ballistic missiles that attacked Kyiv. Serious damage due to falling fragments - Ihnat

attack on Kyiv on January 1

Defense forces shot down two enemy ballistic missiles that attacked Kyiv this morning. The serious destruction in the capital is the result of the fall of missile fragments.

This was stated by the head of the communications department of the Air Force Command, Yuriy Ihnat, Censor.NET reports with reference to RBC-Ukraine.

"Ballistic missiles are extremely difficult targets to intercept. Both missiles that attacked Kyiv were shot down," he said.

According to Ihnat, one of the missiles was shot down at a low altitude, so there may be consequences from the blast wave during the combat operation.

According to the military, despite being shot down, fragments of downed missiles cannot disappear in the air, they will definitely fall to the ground.

"And, unfortunately, they can also cause serious consequences on the ground, as the warhead of the missile can detonate after it is shot down.

Therefore, as Ihnat noted, it is important to observe security measures.

According to the Air Force, a total of 2 out of 4 ballistic missiles and 24 Shahideen were destroyed.
