I did not agree to sign mineral resources agreement with US, it is not ready yet - Zelenskyy

Zelenskyy on the agreement on subsoil

The agreement with the United States on minerals will be signed at the ministerial level when it is ready and subject to guarantees. Currently, this document is not ready to protect Ukraine's interests.

This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a conversation with journalists on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference on the evening of February 15, Censor.NET reports.

Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine is not abandoning the subsoil deal announced by US President Donald Trump, but that the document is not yet ready for signing.

"I did not allow it to be signed because it is not ready yet, not ready to protect our interests. There should be investments, and the profit from them can be distributed. And there must also be security guarantees. This is not there yet," the head of state explained.

Zelenskyy noted that the agreement would be signed at the ministerial level.

"The agreement is signed at the ministerial level, but I am the president and I will have an impact on its content," the head of state said.

Earlier, the Washington Post wrote that Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy said at the Munich Security Conference that he would not sign the agreement on Ukrainian rare earth metals because it did not contain security guarantees for our country.
