Zurabishvili: Ukraine should beware of elections during war, which could become trump card in hands of Russia

The fifth President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, believes that Ukraine should be wary of holding elections in a time of war, as this could become a trump card in Russia's hands.
Zurabishvili said this during a conversation with Radio Liberty on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, Censor.NET reports.
She recalled that Georgia was a testbed for Russia's hybrid strategy through elections - how to conquer countries.
"They are applying it not only to Georgia, but also to Romania, and maybe tomorrow to Moldova. And when it comes to the elections in Ukraine, this is definitely the way Russia, not having won the war and not being sure of winning the peace talks, will try to win Ukraine. So, beware of elections, prepare for elections, and no elections in Ukraine right now," Zurabishvili emphasized.
She added that holding elections in Ukraine now would only benefit Russia.
Trump's statement on Zelenskyy's rating
To recap, the day before, Trump said that Ukraine needs to hold elections because Zelenskyy's approval rating has dropped to 4%.
As of the first half of February 2025, 57% of Ukrainians trust President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, while 37% do not, according to a KIIS study.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the statements about his 4% rating disinformation.
