Trump: Sides are ’very close’ to reaching agreement to settle war in Ukraine

Trump and Zelenskyy’s meeting in the US on February 28

US President Donald Trump said that Ukraine and Russia are "quite close" to signing a peace agreement.

Trump said this during a meeting with Zelenskyy in Washington, Censor.NET reports.

"Today we will sign an agreement with Ukraine on minerals, and I told Zelenskyy that a ceasefire agreement is inevitable," he said.

He also said that it was a "very fair deal" with Ukraine and a "great commitment" from the United States.

In addition, Zelenskyy showed Trump a photo of Ukrainian soldiers after their Russian captivity.

The President of Ukraine named them by name and noted that adult men were returned to Ukraine weighing only 50 kilograms, exhausted and with poor health.

In addition, it is known that Zelenskyy brought the belt of Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk to the United States.

"I understand what Europe is ready for. I want to ask President Trump what the United States is ready for," the Ukrainian president added at the meeting.

"The negotiators have begun to discuss the parameters of a future agreement to end the war," Trump said.

"We will give Ukraine weapons. I hope we don't have to send too many," the American leader says.
