Trump must convince Putin to abandon absurd demands on Ukraine - Sikorski
During his talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, US President Donald Trump should dissuade him from some absurd demands regarding Ukraine.
This was stated by Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.
Sikorski expressed hope that the US president would prove to be as good a negotiator as he claims to be, and that he would be able to convince Putin to give up some of his "absurd demands." This includes the desire to take control or demilitarize all of Ukraine, as well as plans to conquer additional Ukrainian territories in the future.
"We will measure the success of Trump's talks by the quality of the peace achieved," Sikorski emphasized.
He emphasized that the peace talks will be a test for Russia and reminded that Ukraine agreed to a 30-day ceasefire, while Russia is making demands, which shows that it "wants neither peace nor real peace talks."
"We clearly understand who wants peace and who wants war. Russia will try to capture the whole of Ukraine by other means, and ideally, to neutralize half of Europe militarily. It will not succeed, which does not mean that Putin will not try," the head of Polish diplomacy stated.
