If Putin refuses from truce, Trump should have "plan B" - Poroshenko

Poroshenko tells what to do if Putin does not agree to truce

The leader of the ‘European Solidarity’ party and the fifth president, Petro Poroshenko, has told what "plan B" for Ukraine should be if dictator Vladimir Putin refuses from ceasefire.

He said this in an interview with Bild, Censor.NET reports citing the "ES" press service.

"If Putin sets conditions, preconditions, refusals, and so on, then I expect President Trump to have a ‘plan B’. And ‘plan B’ should be, firstly, more weapons for Ukraine; secondly, more sanctions against Russia; thirdly, restoration of transatlantic unity; fourthly, financial support; fifthly, the possibility of joining NATO," he explained.

According to Poroshenko, there are chances for a ceasefire only in the next 2-3 months.

"This will either happen or not. If it does not happen within two or three months, it will not happen at all," the fifth president added.

He also stressed that Ukraine should do everything to strengthen the defence of its borders.

"My message is this: we must immediately stop losing people and immediately stop losing territory. And we must immediately stop wasting time. We need to build fortifications. We must take care of the lives of every single soldier. We must forget the word ‘offensive operation’. Defence of the territory is the main thing. Building fortifications, minefields and the most advanced air defence against guided bombs. All these measures can stop Russia and make it pay a higher price," Poroshenko concluded.
