EU’s position on eve of Putin-Trump conversation: We want just peace for Ukraine

The European Union emphasizes the need for a just peace for Ukraine, as well as the importance of its participation in the negotiations, commenting on the upcoming telephone conversation between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin.

He emphasized that Ukraine should be part of the negotiation process, and also noted that Brussels remains focused on securing peace that will meet the interests of the Ukrainian people.

"We want a just peace for Ukraine. It is very important that Ukraine is part of the solution to the negotiations," Kersmacker said, emphasizing the importance of a fair approach.

He noted that the EU continues to provide support to Ukraine, including military assistance and financial support, which remain priorities for Brussels. The European Commission representative also refused to comment on the conversation between Trump and Putin, emphasizing the importance of achieving a just peace in the context of the war in Ukraine.

According to Russian media reports, the phone call between Trump and Putin is expected to take place on Tuesday between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Kyiv time.
