Defence forces withdrew from Kurakhove ’pocket’ in Donetsk region – media. MAP

In mid-February 2025, the military leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine decided to withdraw from the Kurakhove "pocket". This helped to save the lives of soldiers and improve defence in the Donetsk region.

According to Censor.NET, this was reported by UP's interlocutors in military circles.

"In mid-February 2025, the military command decided to withdraw people from the Kurakhove 'pocket', which saved the lives of soldiers and improved defence in Donetsk region," the media reported.

The defense forces withdrew from Kurakhove in January. After that, Russian troops began to extend their flanks, forming a semi-encirclement between the villages of Dachne, Zelenivka, and Andriivka.

Since the end of February, this semi-encirclement has narrowed to Kostiantynivske from the top and Ulakly from the bottom.

Earlier, the commander of the Velyka Novosilka tactical group, Lieutenant General Serhii Nayev, said that the Defence Forces had decided to withdraw their forces and equipment from unfavourable positions in one of the frontline areas in Donetsk region.
