MFA on "indirect talks" with Russia in Saudi Arabia: Ukraine communicates only with US

Foreign Ministry spokesman Tykhyi

Ukraine views the meeting with the US in Saudi Arabia next week as technical and bilateral. Kyiv is not aware of any contacts between the US and Russian sides.

This was stated by Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhii Tykhyi during a briefing, Censor.NET reports.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Tykhyi stressed that he was unaware of the "running around the rooms" mentioned by Trump's special envoy Keith Kellogg.

According to him, the Ukrainian side has no plans to have contacts with the Russians.

"As of today, we are communicating with the American side, and the American side is communicating with the Russian side. This model has proven effective in the past. In 2022, Ukraine signed the Black Sea Grain Initiative, in which the UN and Turkey played this role... Such a format of diplomacy, in which there is a party that does shuttle work, is possible, so we are still considering it," Tykhyi added.

The day before, Keith Kellogg said that on Monday, 24 March, so-called "indirect talks" between representatives of Ukraine and Russia would take place in Saudi Arabia, organised by the United States. Washington wants to know the parties' position on a ceasefire.
