Lavrov on talks with US on Nord Stream: Sick or suicidal people will not be allowed to restore Russian gas

Russia is ready to do anything to avoid a strategic defeat

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Moscow and Washington are talking about the Nord Stream gas pipeline and suggested that the United States could "put pressure" on Europe not to refuse Russian gas.

This is reported by the Russian news agencyTASS, Censor.NET informs.

Lavrov noted that there are disagreements between Russia and the United States, but interest in resuming Russian gas supplies to Europe allegedly remains.

"There is talk of Nord Stream. It will probably be interesting if the Americans use their influence on Europe and force it not to give up Russian gas. But this is already some kind of surrealism," he said.

The minister also said that European countries pay more for energy than American companies and expressed indignation at the position of European leaders who reject the possibility of restoring Nord Stream.

"At the same time, people like (German Economy Minister) Robert Habeck, (European Commission President) Ursula von der Leyen, (German Defense Minister) Boris Pistorius, they all say that they will never allow the Nord Stream pipeline to be restored. These are either sick people or suicides," Lavrov said.

To recap, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen recently said that the EU will continue to implement the plan to cut off Russian gas in order to achieve energy independence from Russia.
