Kallas faces criticism for tough stance on Russia and US - Politico

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas has been criticized for her harsh statements about Russia and disagreements with the administration of US President Donald Trump.
This was reported by the Politico newspaper, citing unnamed diplomats familiar with the matter, Censor.NET reports.
EU diplomats expressed dissatisfaction with her leadership style and initiatives that were not coordinated with member states.
Kallas's problems began on her first day in office, when she wrote on social media site X during a visit to Kyiv: "The European Union wants Ukraine to win this war." Some diplomats believe that such rhetoric goes beyond the EU's established language on the war in Ukraine.
According to the newspaper, her proposals for military assistance to Ukraine were particularly criticized. In February, Kallas called on EU countries to find at least 1.5 million artillery shells, which was perceived as pressure on member states. Diplomats from Northern and Eastern Europe noted that she had not secured the support of key countries, including France, before publicly launching the initiative.
It is noted that Callas is also accused of disagreements with the administration of US President Donald Trump. She failed to organize a meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and after a tense conversation between Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump, she wrote that "the free world needs a new leader." This caused dissatisfaction among EU countries seeking to maintain relations with the White House.
"Most countries do not want to inflame relations with the United States. To say that the free world needs a new leader is not what most leaders would like to say," said one of the interlocutors.
