We can restrain Putin only with real figures of our production - tanks and drones - Kubilius
The European security plans outlined in the White Paper will not deter Russian dictator Vladimir Putin by themselves, and to effectively deter Russia, Europe must strengthen its arms production capabilities.
According to Censor.NET, citing LRT, European Commissioner for Defense and Space Andrius Kubilius said this during a visit to Lithuania.
"The most important work is ahead. Because we can deter him (Putin - Ed.) only with the real numbers of our production - tanks and drones. The most important thing today is to take care of our military and material defense capabilities and move from a period of reflection to a period of implementation, and do concrete things," he said.
According to the European Commissioner, NATO as a whole lags far behind Russia in terms of both arms production and investment. Currently, the Kremlin's spending on the war in Ukraine exceeds the Alliance's defense spending.
"Today we are faced with a situation that NATO Secretary General Rutte keeps repeating - in three months Russia produces more weapons than all NATO countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and the European Union, produce in a year," Kubilius added.
