I can’t guarantee peace deal to be concluded in week or month – Rubio
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio cannot say when exactly a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia will be reached.
According to Censor.NET, he said this during a conversation with journalists.
"This does not mean that I can guarantee you that an agreement will be concluded in a week or a month. I simply cannot set a time frame, because it does not depend on us. It depends on the Russians and it depends on the Ukrainians. It also depends on our partners in Europe, who have sanctions that I think have to be taken into account as part of any final agreement," he said.
Rubio said he was not ready to say whether Russia was " stalling" the negotiations.
"This war is complicated. As you can see, it has been going on for three years. And I never said it would be easy. We need to work hard with both sides, including the Russian side, with which we have not communicated for years," the US Secretary of State added.
Earlier, Donald Trump said that he was being "a bit sarcastic" when he promised to end Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine "in 24 hours" during his election campaign.
