President of the European Central Bank Christine Lagarde said that the tariff plan proposed by US President Donald Trump would have a negative impact on the global economy.

"There will be a negative impact around the world, and the intensity and duration of the impact will vary depending on the scale, on the products targeted, on how long they last, on whether there are negotiations," she said.
Lagarde emphasized that "tariff escalation" often forces countries to return to the negotiation process, as trade barriers harm even those who impose them. According to her, such situations often end with the partial lifting of restrictions.
Earlier it was reported that US President Donald Trump said that the reciprocal duties he is going to announce this week will apply to all countries, not just the group of 10-15 countries with the largest trade imbalance.
