Large-scale rally in support of Ukraine was held in Washington, DC. PHOTOS

On Sunday, 6 April, a mass rally in support of Ukraine was held at the Lincoln Memorial in downtown Washington, DC.

This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to Ukrinform.

"Americans understand that our values are the same - they are universal. These are the values of freedom, democracy, and human rights. So here we want to draw attention to the fact that Ukraine is now fighting for them in a difficult confrontation," said Maryna Baidiuk, co-organiser of the event and president of United Help Ukraine.

She also noted that the rally kicked off the Ukraine Action Summit, which will take place in Washington, DC, until 9 April, when about 600 delegates from different states will be meeting with congressmen and senators in their offices to discuss the need for further assistance to Ukraine.

For her part, the leader of the delegations from Missouri and Montana, Marichka Gliten, noted that people came to the Lincoln Memorial with various messages addressed to the American authorities. Attention was drawn, among other things, to Russia's recent killings of Ukrainian children and civilians. In this context, she stressed that it is simply unacceptable to negotiate any kind of truce when the Russians are demonstrating a position of strength.

"Of course, we agree with US President Donald Trump's vision of peace through strength, but the conditions should be set by at least Ukraine and America together. Russia is constantly violating the agreements it has signed, and our goal is to convey that the Russians cannot be trusted," she stressed.

Separate messages are also addressed to the US Congress, as Russian propaganda is also trying to infiltrate the main US legislative body.

"So, the Ukrainian Action Summit itself will involve communication with congressmen and senators about specific facts that indicate that Russia is not fulfilling its agreements and that this should be expected in the future," Hlyten added.
