According to the investigation, the suspect set up a mechanism for seizing citizens' funds under the pretext of their official employment.

How the MP was detained
Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation detained a current deputy of the Zhytomyr Regional Council red-handed in Kyiv. The official was trying to receive $10,000 from a man who was seeking to get a competitive position in a state institution.
In March 2025, the defendant met with a potential "client" and offered to help him find a job. The MP claimed that he had influential connections among high-ranking officials, law enforcement officers and representatives of regulatory authorities. He asked for $10,000 to "resolve the issue".
On 3 April, law enforcement officers detained the deputy when he was receiving the entire agreed amount.
What punishment was imposed by the court
The court imposed on the suspect a measure of restraint in the form of nightly house arrest.
