Zelenskyy: Ceasefire in Ukraine was Trump’s idea; he’s now frustrated with Putin actions

US President Donald Trump is very frustrated with the actions of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, who is not fulfilling his promises of a ceasefire against Ukraine.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this at a meeting with journalists, Censor.NET reports citing UNIAN.

The President answered whether the United States was frustrated with the ceasefire situation. According to Zelenskyy, Trump will at some point realize that it is impossible to trust Putin.

"And we need to put Putin in the appropriate conditions, after which Putin will fulfill his promises to a leader, in this case, Trump. And I would really like this time to come sooner. Because this time will lead us to some decisive steps more quickly. In addition to sanctions, forcing an unconditional ceasefire, diplomacy and a diplomatic path that will lead to the end of the war. I want to believe in it," Zelenskyy emphasized.

According to the President, Ukraine is ready to do everything in its power to achieve this.

"And I think that these steps are becoming more and more numerous. Strikes on many of our cities. Certainly, the attack on the children of Kryvyi Rih, I think, came as a shock to many in America. I'm talking about people. Everything is always based on people. In one format or another, these signals reach the White House," the president said.

At the same time, Zelenskyy believes that "Trump is frustrated that Putin is not fulfilling what he promised him."

"We don’t know everything they discussed. But we do know quite a bit. And we strongly expect that there will be a reaction," Zelenskyy said.
"Because a ceasefire in Ukraine could serve as a trigger for ending the war. The idea of a ceasefire in Ukraine came from Trump. We see it as a first step toward ending the war. He is invested in that step. That’s why I believe his frustration is greater than we might think — because, in fact, we are supporting his plan through our actions. Definitely. While Putin is doing everything to the contrary," Zelenskyy concluded.
