2,500 Russians fighting for Islamic State, – Russia’s Interior Ministry
About 2,500 Russian citizens are fighting in the ranks of the “Islamic State".
First Deputy Interior Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Gorovoy told reporters in Artek international children center on Thursday, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrainska Pravda.
"There are about 2,500 Russian citizens in this structure today," he said.
Gorovoy assured that the law enforcement agencies are taking the necessary measures to counter the threat of terrorist attacks by the ISIL supporters.
"As part of joint efforts, law enforcement agencies are carrying out all the necessary range of prevention measures, package of measures both to control the movement of all these citizens and other aspects that minimize the terrorist threat in the territory of our country," he said.
