"Nov. 6, all Interpol member states received Russia's circular announcing citizen of Ukraine Refat Chubarov internationally wanted," the minister said.
According to Avakov, Russia's move is allegedly caused by the politician's calls for "violation" of its territorial integrity - namely, reclaiming Crimea as part of Ukraine.
"The Interpol office in Ukraine is firm in believing that Crimea is part of Ukraine, while Russia is an occupying authority in the peninsula. It has sent a corresponding petition to the Central Bureau of Interpol," Avakov noted.
According to him, the bureau has decided that classifying Chubarov as wanted is at odds with the prohibition to interfere with politically motivated cases.
"Taking this into account, the information about Refat Chubarov has been removed from the list," Avakov resumed.
