Internal discussions regarding potential personnel changes at the highest levels have intensified within the U.S. presidential administration.
According to sources cited by The Atlantic, the following are being considered for potential resignations:
- FBI Director Kash Patel;
- Army Minister Dan Driscoll;
- Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer.
At the same time, no final decisions have been made yet, and the timing of any potential changes remains uncertain.
Previously, Trump had avoided firing high-ranking officials, viewing it as a concession to his political opponents and the media. There was also an informal practice within the administration of not making significant personnel changes before midterm elections.
However, according to sources, the situation may have changed following a decline in the president's approval ratings amid the war with Iran.
Driscoll's role in the negotiations
Special attention is given to Dan Driscoll’s role in international politics. He joined the negotiations between Ukraine and Russia in November 2025, replacing Keith Kellogg.
Driscoll presented a draft peace plan to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, after which he participated in negotiations in Geneva and later presented the proposal to the Russian side in Abu Dhabi.
