Finance Ministry to increase army expenses by 10 bln UAH

The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine intends to increase army financing by 10 bln ($400 mln) in 2016.

As reported by Censor.NET, this was announced by Finance Minister Natalie Jaresko in her article for Ekonomichna Pravda.

"Defense and security. In order to further enhance Ukraine's defense capability, we plan to increase defense expenses by 10 bln UAH compared to 2015 within NSDC's solutions," she wrote.

The Ministry of Finance also intends to increase education level and efficient use of state funds in this sector.

Besides, the minister noted that the largest expense category is social payments.

"We have no right to lower social protection to those population strata that need it the most. The only way to decrease expenses in this sector is to increase their efficiency through verification, targeting, and offering it to citizens who really need support," Jaresko said.
