Yanukovych's and Azarov's pensions attached by court

The Pechersk district court of Kyiv has attached pensions on Oshchadbank accounts of the former President Viktor Yanukovych and the former Prime Minister Mykola Azarov.

This is stated in court rulings of Dec. 21, 2015, Censor.NET reports referring to Ukrainski Novyny.

The Prosecutor General's Office has launched a pre-trial investigation against the former high-ranking state officials regarding the embezzlement of public funds in the amount of 220 million hryvnias (approx. $8.6 million as of today).

According to investigation materials, Yanukovych has been registered with the Pension Fund of Ukraine (the Pechersk district of Kyiv branch) since July 10, 2010 as a recipient of pension granted according to the law of Ukraine on the status of people's deputy of Ukraine.

Yanukovych's pension makes 16,947 hryvnias (approx. $664 as of today) monthly, while that of Azarov has been 17,253 hryvnias (approx. $676 as of today) monthly since Feb. 6, 2008.

The court has ruled to attach the pensions on Oshchadbank accounts of the both defendants in the case, prohibiting all debit transactions.
