Ukraine got through first winter without Russian gas, - Poroshenko
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko stressed the country is no longer dependent on Russian gas, which is proved by passing the fall-winter heating period.
Censor.NET reports citing Interfax-Ukraine."Russia thought it would bring us to knees, offered gas for 212 [U.S. dollars per tcm - ed.]. I instructed the minister to call Russia and say we won't buy their gas," the president said, speaking with residents of Volodymyrets in the Rivne region on Friday.
According to him, Ukraine is currently buying gas from Europe, which is cheaper than that of Russia.
"As of today, we've got through the first winter without Russian gas," Poroshenko said.
