Poroshenko on Mejlis' prohibition: Threshold is breached
The Crimean Tatars are persecuted by the occupation Crimean authorities.
"As you know, yesterday the threshold was breached, and the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people was banned," President Petro Poroshenko said at a news briefing after talks with Danish Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen, Censor.NET reports referring to Ukrainski Novyny.
Poroshenko noted that the population of Russian-occupied Crimea, in particular the Crimean Tatars, is being persecuted by the Russian authorities.
As earlier reported, on April 18, Russia's Ministry of Justice suspended the activity of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people as an extremist organisation.
