Macron congratulated Ukraine on 35th anniversary of its independence: "Free people cannot be subjugated"
The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, issued a message marking the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence, assuring the Ukrainian people of his support in defending the country’s freedom, sovereignty and future.
He wrote about this on his Instagram, according to Censor.NET.
Macron’s statement
The French leader noted that, on Ukraine’s Independence Day, France pays tribute to a people who are defending their freedom, sovereignty and future.
"A free people cannot be subjugated. Ukraine stands firm. France, Europe and all partners in the Coalition of the Willing stand by its side", emphasised the French leader.
Other greetings
Senior officials from a number of countries and international organisations also congratulated Ukraine on the 35th anniversary of its independence, emphasising their support for the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, their continued assistance, and the need to achieve a just and lasting peace.
- In particular, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio congratulated the Ukrainian people on behalf of the United States and stated that Washington remains committed to Ukraine’s sovereignty. According to him, the US continues to work towards achieving a negotiated settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian war, which should ensure lasting peace, as well as on developing economic and security ties with Ukraine.
