Zelenskyy has arrived in New York for UN General Assembly: around 20 meetings are scheduled. VIDEO
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, accompanied by the First Lady, Olena Zelenska, and his diplomatic team, has arrived in New York to take part in the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.
According to Censor.NET, the President of Ukraine announced this on his Telegram channel.
According to Zelenskyy, around 20 meetings are scheduled during the visit.
Zelenskyy will hold meetings with Trump and members of Congress
The programme for the visit includes meetings with the US President, European leaders, senators and members of the US House of Representatives.
Zelenskyy also plans to meet with the heads of international organisations, representatives of leading American companies and think tanks.
Separately, the president announced preparations for the signing of a new Drone Deal.
Ukraine will focus on security and bringing about peace
Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine’s top priority remains bringing about peace and protecting the lives of Ukrainians.
"Of course, Ukraine’s top priority is bringing about peace and protecting the lives of our people. There are specific security proposals and de-escalation measures that could bring the war to an end. We are working to strengthen our air defence and secure sufficient funding for Ukraine," Zelenskyy emphasised
A summit of the international Crimea Platform will also take place in New York.
"There should be broad, high-level representation from various countries, and we appreciate the involvement of all our partners and their support for our territorial integrity and sovereignty," the President added.
Olena Zelenska’s programme
First Lady Olena Zelenska will address students and lecturers at Columbia University. She will also present the outcomes of the Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen at the UN.
In addition:
- meetings are planned with representatives of American business and philanthropists to support the projects of the Olena Zelenska Foundation.
- A series of bilateral meetings is planned, including with the wife of the UK Prime Minister and the President of the World Bank.
