More than 500 units have already gained access to DOT-Chain Defence—an online weapons store developed by the DOT Defense Procurement Agency of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
The Ministry of Defense reported this, according to Censor.NET.
As noted, in total, over more than a year of operation through DOT-Chain Defence, the Defense Forces have already received more than 1.3 million drones and other equipment worth 85 billion hryvnia, both directly through the marketplace and via the "Army of Drones" system. Bonus.
Through this system, military personnel independently select and order the necessary equipment.
Which units use DOT-Chain Defense?
For example, units from the "Drone Line" project and certain assault regiments have joined the system. From now on, they can also independently order unmanned systems through DOT-Chain Defense in accordance with their combat needs.
Deputy Minister of Defense Mstislav Banik said that the DOT-Chain Defense marketplace is used by units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard, the State Border Guard Service, the National Police, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Main Intelligence Directorate, and the State Special Transport Service, all of which are directly involved in combat operations.
According to him, the Ministry of Defense wants as many units as possible to be able to choose their own weapons. This will give the military greater autonomy, control over their supplies—and the ability to plan their operations.
The Ministry of Defense notes that just a year ago, DOT-Chain Defense was available to only 12 brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Because the model gives the military greater autonomy in selecting the necessary resources and allows needs to be met more quickly at the unit level, the marketplace has gradually been scaled up to cover most components of the Defense Forces.
What the units are ordering
Currently, in terms of order structure, the largest share is accounted for by:
- unmanned aerial vehicles – 84%;
- electronic warfare equipment – 8.6%;
- ground-based robotic systems – 7.2%;
- ammunition – 0.2%.
The units are connected to the DOT-Chain Defense marketplace through three state-funded programs: DOT-Chain Defense itself, the "Drone Army. Bonus" program, and a program funded by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
