Buntar Aerospace raises $16m, bringing total funding to $30m

Ukrainian company Buntar Aerospace, which develops autonomous defence systems, has announced the closing of a $16 million funding round. The round was led by Freedom Fund and an international private equity fund, joined by Gardar, Iron Wolf and Autonomy Capital. Including previous investments, the company’s total funding has reached $30 million.

The company told Censor.NET’s "Drone Industry" project about this.

Buntar Aerospace currently produces the Buntar-3 reconnaissance drone and Buntar Copilot, software that helps drone operators make decisions in combat. Both products are already used by frontline units across Ukraine and generate steady profits for the company.

"The company will use the new funding in several areas: accelerating product development, expanding production capacity as demand from the Armed Forces of Ukraine remains strong, and strengthening the team with experienced engineers and managers by bringing in established teams with proven experience," the company said.

Buntar Aerospace will also continue improving Buntar Copilot and enter international markets with dual-use solutions that go beyond conventional reconnaissance and surveillance.

"Our systems can fly, see and make decisions autonomously so that people can focus on what matters most. We deliberately focus on tasks where the operator’s skill matters most: reconnaissance, countering drones and assisting with precision strikes. This is what Ukraine needs today, and what Europe must be ready for tomorrow. Experience shows that everything we create for the front eventually finds applications in civilian life, so we also plan to develop this area," said Buntar Aerospace co-founder Bohdan Sas.

About the company

Buntar Aerospace is a Ukrainian company that develops autonomous defence systems. It was founded in August 2023 by Ivan Kaunov and Bohdan Sas. Initially, the company developed the Buntar-3 reconnaissance drone, capable of operating amid intense electronic warfare, and the Buntar Copilot AI assistant. These products brought the company steady revenue and earned the trust of frontline units across the country. Building on this foundation, Buntar Aerospace is now entering new markets and expanding into other product niches, including civilian ones. The company’s team works side by side with military personnel to continuously refine its equipment for real combat conditions.
