Defense Ministry reviews procurement: UAH 15.6 billion to be allocated to priority military needs

Technology, methods of warfare and the needs of military units are changing rapidly. What was planned for procurement in 2024–2025 may no longer be suited to the situation on the front line today.
According to Censor.NET, Ukraine's Ministry of Defense reported this.
The Ministry of Defense, together with the General Staff and the Logistics Forces Command, therefore reviewed the military's current needs, existing contracts and planned procurement. As a result, UAH 15.6 billion will be freed up. These funds will be allocated to supplies that are currently a higher priority for the military.
Why the Defense Ministry reviewed planned procurement
The reasons for the review include:
- the specifications of certain equipment no longer meet the requirements of current combat missions;
- suppliers cannot produce the planned quantities;
- some models have yet to undergo codification;
- partners are fully meeting some of the needs;
- some tasks can be performed using less expensive equipment purchased in larger quantities.
Some contracts will be terminated, and certain purchases will not proceed
Some contracts will be terminated, and some planned purchases will not proceed. All decisions concerning existing contracts will be implemented in accordance with the law.
Manufacturers affected by the changes were informed and communicated with the Defense Procurement Agency DOT about the next steps under their contracts, taking into account the status of contract performance and payments.
We are not disclosing the list of weapons whose procurement has been reviewed for security reasons.
