Today, 7 October, police veteran Oleh Malysh was killed as a result of a massive missile strike on Pryluky.
This was reported by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Chernihiv region, according to Censor.NET.
What is known
As noted, until recently he had been fighting on the front line as part of the Chernihiv Region Police Rifle Battalion. Due to health reasons, the officer had recently retired.
Sadly, an enemy strike cut short his life at the age of 47.
"Today, an enemy missile took the life of our colleague. Oleh Malysh’s wife, who also serves in the police force, was injured. The policewoman is currently in hospital in a serious condition. Her mother was also killed in the enemy attack, and her three-year-old niece was wounded," the police said
Service in the internal affairs agencies
It is reported that Oleh Malysh dedicated his life to serving in the internal affairs agencies, having joined the ranks of law enforcement in 2001. He began his career as a criminal investigation officer in Pryluky, where he subsequently served.
In 2024, he joined the rifle battalion of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Chernihiv region and played a direct role in defending Ukraine against Russian invaders.
The Chernihiv police force has expressed its sincere condolences to Oleh Malysh’s family, relatives and loved ones.
What led up to it
As a reminder, Russia struck a high-rise building in Pryluky, Chernihiv region. According to the latest reports, 14 people have been killed, including four children, and over 50 have been injured.
