Ukraine will hold elections if Putin agrees to 60-day ceasefire, - Zelenskyy

Zelenskyy

Ukraine is ready to hold presidential elections if the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin agrees to a 60-day ceasefire.

This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with ABC News, as reported by Censor.NET.

"So, first and foremost, with all due respect to President Trump, it is our society and our people who must choose one leader or another. Yes, we are at war, and holding elections is indeed difficult. The issue is not only that this is completely unsecured and goes beyond the scope of our legislation and Constitution, but the main thing is to have the security infrastructure in place to enable people to vote. Of course, it is up to the Ukrainian people to decide when to vote, how to do so and who to elect. But to answer this question – I know that Putin was very keen to change the president in Ukraine. I understand that," said the head of state.

Zelenskyy added that if Putin agrees to a 60-day ceasefire, Ukraine will hold elections.

"A full 60-day ceasefire – and we will organise elections. Of course, we will be ready to accept whatever choice our people – the Ukrainian people – make," the president added.
