Attacks on data centres in Russia: Lithuania wants more

Ukraine’s allies should ask Ukraine to carry out strikes on more data centres in Russia.

According to Censor.NET, which cites LRT, this was stated by the Prime Minister of Lithuania, Mindaugas Sinkevičius.

"I think we should ask Mr Zelenskyy to target more data centres in Russia, and that might help," he said, responding to a question about what Lithuania, Poland and other allies should do to protect elections in their countries from interference.

According to the Lithuanian Prime Minister, no one will offer Europeans a seat at the decision-making table simply out of politeness.

"To have a seat at this table, Europe must summon greater strength, energy and unity. Political commitments must be put into practice more swiftly, and investment in defence must be translated into new defence capabilities," he explained.

What led up to it?

  • It was previously reported that a major fire broke out on the premises of the ‘Sasta’ machine-tool factory in the town of Sasovo, in the Ryazan Region of Russia, during the night of 8 October. The ‘Yandex DC Sasovo’ data centre is located on the same industrial site.
  • Yandex’s second data centre was attacked in Russia on 9 October – in Kaluga.
  • On 11 October, following an attack, the Yandex data centre in Vladimir is on fire: services are disrupted and the city is without power.
