Mykhailo Smushak, Deputy Mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk, has reported that the monument to the freedom fighters was damaged as a result of the Russian attack on 11 October.

According to Censor.NET, this was mentioned in Mykhailo Smushak’s Facebook post.

Debris struck the monument, but it withstood the impact

The monument is situated a few metres from the point of impact. Debris from a rocket-propelled drone damaged the monument, whilst the blast wave caused further damage.

"It has been struck by debris and damaged by the blast wave, but it has stood firm. It did not fall. There is something deeply symbolic about this," wrote Smushak.

He also noted that Russia continues to destroy the city, take people’s lives and leave ruins in its wake. At the same time, local residents are helping one another, clearing up the damaged areas, rebuilding the city and supporting those who need it most.
