Trump believes that Putin is more keen on peace deal than Zelenskyy

Donald Trump commented on the prospects for a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia

US President Donald Trump has stated that he will seek to secure a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine, and has also commented on reports of ceasefire violations. According to him, both sides are keen to reach an agreement but do not yet know how to achieve it.

According to Censor.NET, Trump made these remarks whilst speaking to journalists.

Trump said he would look into reports of ceasefire breaches

Responding to media questions about overnight Russian attacks, Trump said he would look into the matter. At the same time, he noted that violations had occurred on both sides.

Journalists pointed out that neither Russia nor Ukraine had officially confirmed their agreement to a ceasefire. In response, the US president stated that the parties had agreed following his personal demand.

On 11 October, Trump wrote on the social media platform Truth Social that Ukraine and Russia had allegedly agreed to cease strikes on each other’s energy infrastructure.

"An energy ceasefire in the war between Russia and Ukraine comes into force immediately. Both parties have agreed to it. Do not break it!" wrote the US President.

Putin wants a deal more than Zelenskyy, says Trump

The American leader expressed his conviction that both Putin and Zelenskyy are interested in a peace deal, but do not know how to achieve it. According to Trump, the Russian dictator is even more eager for an agreement than the Ukrainian president.

Zelenskyy had previously announced Ukraine’s readiness to cease strikes on Russian oil refineries. He welcomed Trump’s statement on an energy truce, although it came as a surprise to him.

At the same time, the Ukrainian president emphasised the need for the agreements to be implemented in practice: "It is important that this becomes a reality."
