More than 120 drones and 39 ballistic missiles: one of largest attacks on "Ukrenergo" since start of war

Vitalii Zaichenko, Chairman of the Management Board of NPC Ukrenergo, said that on October 14, Russian forces carried out one of the largest attacks on the company’s facilities since the start of the full-scale war.
Censor.NET reports, citing Zaichenko’s statement quoted by Interfax-Ukraine.
Russian forces strike substations with ballistic missiles
According to Vitalii Zaichenko, Ukrenergo’s electricity substations were the main targets of Russian forces. The occupiers used ballistic missiles in the attack, causing the company to lose some of its equipment.
"Today saw one of the largest attacks, involving ballistic missiles and resulting in equipment losses. Our foremost challenge, therefore, is the ability to restore operations quickly," the company’s head stressed.
He also said that Russian attacks on electricity substations remain one of the main challenges facing Ukraine’s power system.
Energy workers prepare for further strikes
Zaichenko noted that Russian forces had attacked electricity substations before. In his assessment, such strikes may continue, so the main task for energy workers is to restore damaged equipment as quickly as possible.
Overnight on October 14, Russia also attacked energy and critical infrastructure in Kyiv, the Kyiv region and Kharkiv.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that Russian forces used 39 ballistic missiles and more than 120 attack drones and loitering munitions in the attack.
According to the head of state, 26 components of the electricity system and four oil and gas infrastructure facilities were damaged. At least 600,000 people were left without power.
