During the attack on the night of 7 November, Russia deployed 172 strike drones and 36 ballistic missiles. All the missiles were directed at Kyiv and the Kyiv region. Once again, the Russian strike’s main target was the energy infrastructure.
According to Censor.NET, this was stated by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"Russia is preparing for the trilateral talks by launching ballistic missiles at Ukraine’s critical infrastructure. Where the security situation permits, repair and rescue work is continuing in the affected regions," the statement reads.
Russia has attacked energy infrastructure and residential buildings
According to Zelenskyy, a difficult situation has arisen in the capital regarding the supply of electricity, water and heating. Residential buildings and the Northern Bridge have been damaged, and a nursery school has been partially destroyed.
In the Kyiv region, Russian troops attacked substations connecting the Rivne and Khmelnytskyi nuclear power stations to Kyiv and the central regions of Ukraine.
Damage to substations has also been reported in the Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Rivne, Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions. In total, apart from the capital, 12 other regions have come under attack.
Nine people were injured as a result of the attack, including one child.
Zelenskyy called on the US not to leave Ukraine without support
"I would like to thank all our people who, day in, day out, defend the country from this terror, rebuild and do everything they can to ensure Ukraine gets through the winter. But when Russia is trying to plunge Kyiv – a city of several million people – and the whole country into a blackout, Ukraine cannot be left to fend for itself," Zelenskyy emphasised.
According to him, Kyiv is counting on an increase in bilateral aid from the US and greater attention to Ukraine from the US Congress.
The President also stressed the importance of unity between both parties on issues of security, support for Ukraine, condemnation of Russian aggression and increasing the pressure of sanctions on Putin.
"America’s resolve and consistency in supporting Ukraine are of great importance for bringing peace closer," Zelenskyy emphasised.
