Ukrainian military to stay in Stanytsia Luhanska, - Ukraine's representative at JCCC
Anti-terrorist operation (ATO) forces are not going to leave Stanytsia Luhanska after the withdrawal of troops from the contact line.
Ukrainian side leader at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination (JCCC) of matters related to the cease-fire regime and the stabilization of the situation, Maj. Gen. Borys Kremenetskyi said on air of Hromadske, Censor.NET reports."First, the Ukrainian military are not going to leave Stanytsia Luhanska. Second, the contact line does not change and remains as is. The demilitarized zone will only start a kilometer away from the contact line. No troops will be allowed there, only JCCC officers," Kremenetskyi noted.
According to him, the withdrawal of troops is intended to prevent the use of small arms.
Earlier, the framework agreement on disengagement of troops and hardware was signed in Minsk on Sept. 21.
As stipulated by the document, the OSCE SMM performs permanent monitoring and verification of disengagement of troops and hardware in agreed areas. Stanytsia Luhanska and Zolote in the Luhansk region and Petrivske in the Donetsk region are the first three settlements where the disengagement is to take place.
