Karpiuk, Klykh's lawyers to file lawsuit with ECHR
Consul General of Ukraine in Rostov-on-Don Vitalii Moskalenko wrote on Facebook, Censor.NET reports.
He notes that representatives of the Consulate General visited Mykola Karpiuk and Stanislav Klykh in SIZO-1 (remand prison) in Grozny and received the signed documents.
Earlier, the Supreme Court of Chechnya found Karpiuk and Klykh guilty of killing Russian soldiers during the war in Chechnya. According to investigators, they fought there alongside well-known Ukrainian politicians - Yatseniuk, Yarosh, Tiahnybok brothers, etc.
The defense claim the Ukrainians testified under torture. Russian-based Memorial rights group calls Karpiuk and Klykh "political prisoners."
Karpiuk and Klykh have been sentenced to 22.5 and 20 years in prison respectively. Russia's Supreme Court has dismissed the appeal.
