"This is great," – Presidential Administration on EX.UA share site closedown
The officials of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine are satisfied with termination of operations of EX.UA file hosting service.
Cessation of work of EX.UA - the Ukrainian file hosting service - is an unconditional success of the fight against piracy, Secretary of the National Reform Council, Presidential Administration Deputy Head Dmytro Shymkiv said, Censor.NET reports citing ZN.UA."They (EX.UA) used a business model allowing them to generate income from Ukrainian advertisements integrated into illegal video content they were spreading. The Ukrainian advertisers were paying for the ads while the rights holders were making no profit," Shymkiv told reporters.
He added that the website owners earned about $1 million yearly.
"You know, there always came a point when pirates deliberately turned to the light side. This is great," the Presidential Administration deputy head said.
