President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko noted that Ukraine was hopeful to continue efficient cooperation with the new Administration of U.S. President Donald Trump.

"We are hopeful to continue fruitful Ukraine-USA cooperation and expect Transatlantic unity," the Ukrainian president said answering the question of foreign media about the expectations from the new U.S. Administration.

The president has once again emphasized that by the illegal annexation of Crimea and aggression in eastern Ukraine, Russia had violated the postwar global security system based on the U.N. Security Council.

The head of state noted that NATO was the only mechanism to maintain security in the present situation. "Productive cooperation, including in security and defense sectors, is extremely important for Ukraine and global security," Poroshenko stressed.
