Ukrainian military suffer losses as Russian militants attack Avdiivka, - ATO Staff

The militants shelled the industrial zone of Avdiivka, the Donetsk region this morning and stormed the positions of the Ukrainian army.

Three Ukrainian soldiers were wounded in the vicinity of Avdiivka as a result of the militants' assault. This was announced by the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) Staff spokesperson Leonid Matiukhin, Censor.NET reports citing 112 TV Channel.

Ukrainian soldiers suffered losses, though the exact number of victims is yet unknown.

"The militants used the same tactics as at Svitlodarsk salient. They fired mortars, grenade launchers and small arms for about an hour. At about 7 a.m. they stormed our positions''.

''Their goal was to dislodge our military from positions. Our soldiers repelled the attack. The battle was quite harsh. We suffered losses, though their losses were heavier,'' Matiukhin reported.

Moreover, three soldiers were wounded in the attack.
