PGO raids Antimonopoly Committee, - AMCU representative Panaiotidi
The cause behind the raid is unknown, but, it might be linked to searches at the premises of the tobacco monopoly Tedis Ukraine conducted as part of a probe into large-scale funds withdrawal.
Censor.NET reports citing LB.ua quoting AMCU representative Svitlana Panaiotidi."Yes, PGO representatives are here," she said.
The details and cause of the searches are to be reported later.
"PGO representatives arrived at 7:30 a.m. Said they would knock down the door if not opened. They are searching the AMCU building. No one is allowed inside. Masked people. Guns. We are the newsmakers today," she wrote on Facebook.
Earlier, Prosecutor General Yurii Lutsenko said the PGO had exposed the monopoly distributor of tobacco products Megapolis Ukraine Ltd. (Tedis Ukraine) as involved in a massive money laundering and terrorism financing scheme.
He added some 1,000 law enforcers were conducting searches at the premises of the company.
