WikiLeaks claims Russia's involvement in hacker attack on Macron's campaign

Data pointing at a Russian citizen has been found in the hacked emails of French presidential candidate Emmanuel Macron's campaign headquarters.

Censor.NET reports referring to UNIAN citing WikiLeaks' Twitter page.

"#MacronLeaks: name of an employee for Russian government security contractor Evrika appears nine times in metadata for "xls_cendric.rar" leak archive," WikiLeaks tweeted. It also says the name of the employee is Roshka Georgy Petrovich.

Referring to the Russian media, Wikileaks noted that Evrika company had been authorized by Russia's FSB Security Service to protect state secrets.

The final round of France's presidential election has kicked off today as the French are choosing between independent centrist Emmanuel Macron and far-right candidate Marine Le Pen.

As previously reported, hackers stole most of the emails from Macron's campaign headquarters, which were shortly uploaded onto a file sharing site. Macron's team said the files had been stolen weeks ago when several party officials had their personal and work emails hacked.
