Prior to adopting the relevant law, it is necessary to ensure that weapons do not fall into the hands of people with unstable psyche, criminals, people with addictions and mental disorders.
Minister of Interior Arsen Avakov said June 6 at a briefing in Zaporizhia, Censor.NET reports citing the Interior Ministry press service.
According to him, there are many obstacles to the adoption by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the law on the free circulation of short-barreled firearms.
"The polls show that the majority of Ukrainian citizens oppose free access to such weapons. The question is debatable. The National Police and the Interior Ministry are ready to comply with any decision of the parliament," he stressed.
