Ukraine to stop using anthracite coal by 2020, - Energy Minister Nasalyk

"The Ministry of Energy has a schedule for the transfer of power units to the gas coal group and controls its fulfillment, which will allow to replace about 6 million tons of anthracite by the end of 2018 and abandon the anthracite group coal by the end of 2019," Nasalyk said.
To replace the scarce anthracite coal, a pilot project on transferring power units No. 2 and No. 5 of the Zmiivska Thermal Power Plant (the Kharkiv region) of the state-owned power generating company Tsentrenerho to gas group coal has been implemented since 2016.
In May, the power unit No. 2 was turned into the circuit for start-up works and adjustment. The reconstruction of power unit No. 5 continues.
As reported, Ukraine saved 2.7 million tons of anthracite during emergency measures in the energy sector. According to the Cabinet, the reserves for today are 867,000 tons
