Catherine II monument dismantled in Odesa. PHOTOS
From the morning of December 28, the monument to Catherine the Second in Odessa began to be dismantled.
This is reported by Censor.NET with reference to the local publication "Dumska".
Traffic on the square is blocked. Communal workers have started preparations for dismantling; they are dismantling the sarcophagus recently erected around the monument. There is a large amount of security on site.
We will remind you that the decision to dismantle the monument was adopted by the Odesa City Council on November 30. They decided to transfer the sculptural composition to the Odesa Art Museum for safekeeping.
The figure of the empress has no historical value; it was cast in 2007, and the favorites' statistics are exhibited on the Bleschunov Museum's balance sheet.
