As part of joint special border operation West-2023, border guards stopped 12 border violations over weekend and detained 15 Ukrainian citizens who were trying to get to Moldova and Romania outside of checkpoints.
According to Censor.NET, this was reported by the State Border Guard Service.
It is noted that yesterday, officers of the operational units of the Chernivtsi detachment, together with the border patrol of the Hvizdovtsi department, stopped a car near the Ukrainian-Moldovan border. There were four people of military age with documents inside. Three of the men were locals who were trying to organise an illegal border crossing to Moldova for a resident of Novodnistrovsk.
Also over the weekend, border guards of the Kelmentsi, Krasnoyilsk, Selyatyn and Shybeni departments detained another 14 offenders who were trying to cross the border illegally in 11 cases.
These were residents of Donetsk, Sumy, Mykolaiv, Kyiv, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk and Chernivtsi regions.
All offenders were taken to the border guard units to be prosecuted for illegal crossing or attempted illegal crossing of the state border of Ukraine.
The National Police was notified of the discovery of signs of a criminal offence - illegal trafficking of persons across the state border. They face 7 to 9 years in prison.
