Five servicemen of Russian Federation will be tried for shooting civilian cars with civilians in Hostomel, - Prosecutor General’s Office. PHOTOS
In February 2012, the Russian military shot at 10 civilian vehicles with civilians in the town of Gostomel.
This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Censor.NET informs.
"The investigation established that on 25 February 2022, the military of the consolidated detachment of the Rosgvardia units from the cities of Kemerovo and Novokuznetsk, Kemerovo region, as well as a mobile special purpose unit in Krasnoyarsk region, having failed to complete the combat mission to capture Kyiv, retreated and took up positions in the village of Gostomel."
In the area of Shevchenka and Svyato-Pokrovska streets, the Russian military shot at civilian cars with civilians for more than 6 hours. People were trying to leave the combat zone. The shelling killed 5 people and injured 6 others," the statement said.
Law enforcement officers identified 11 victims and 41 witnesses, ordered 57 examinations and conducted 9 investigative experiments. In addition, they obtained video from cameras located near the crime scene, as well as a video recording of a witness to the horrific events. Investigators obtained evidence to prove the deliberate killing of civilians by the Russian army.
"The investigation has identified five Russian servicemen - the commander of a unit of the Russian Armed Forces in Krasnoyarsk Krai, his deputy, and a serviceman from the command staff of the Rosgvardia Department in Krasnoyarsk Krai, who gave criminal orders to shoot at civilians, as well as two servicemen of the Armed Forces and the Rosgvardia," the Prosecutor General's Office said.
All five Russian servicemen were served in absentia notices of suspicion of violation of the laws and customs of war combined with premeditated murder (Article 28(2)(b)(2) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The investigation also continues to identify other Russian servicemen involved in the shooting of civilians in Hostomel.
